The Pusapati Dynasty

The Pusapatis were of Solar race (Suryavamsi) and of Vashista ‘gotra’. Tradition preserved in some literary works speak of an emigration of four important Rajput clans of the Vashista,Dhanunjaya,Kowndinya and Kasyapa ‘gotras’ under the leadership of one Madhava Varma into South India in Saka 514.

Pusapati Peda Vijayarama Raju I

Maharaja Meeza Raja Vijayarama Gajapathi Raju-I It was in his name that his father Maharaja Ananda Raju-I laid Foundation to Vijayapuri, Which was renamed as Vijayanagram during his reign.

Pusapati Ananda Raju II

Pusapati Ananda Raju II (1732-1760) He recaptured visakhapatnam fort from the french and drove them out of the circars with the due support of the British.

Pusapati Chinna Vijayarama Raju II

Maharaja Pusapati Chinna Vijayarama Gajapathi Raju of Vizianagaram Marched into battle field with loyal followers and lost his life fighting chivalrously on 10th july 1794.

Pusapati Narayana Gajapathi Raju

Also known as Narayana Babu.He spent most of his life in varanasi.Kedar Ghat and Vijayanagaram Ghat constructed in varanasi by Maharaja of Vijayanagaram in 1800's.

Pusapati Vijayarama Gajapathi Raju III

Pusapati Vijayarama Gajapathi Raju III was credited with transforming Vijayanagaram into an Educational Center. His reign also experienced various developmental works like roadways, schools in Vizianagaram.

Maharajah Vijayarama Gajapathi Raju-IV established the 'Sri Vijayarama Gana Pathasala' in Vizianagaram with Sri Adibathla Narayana Das its first Principle.

Pusapati Alaka Narayana Gajapathi Raju IV

Pusapati Alaka Narayana Gajapathi Raju IV built Alakanada Palace (present day police battalion) and a run way for his Aeroplane adjacent to the palace in Vizianagaram.

Pusapati Vijayrama Gajapathi Raju V

Raja Rishi Dr. P.V.G. Raja Gajapathi Raju was the 15th & last Maharaja of Vizianagaram. He was a Noble Legislator, Parliamentarian and Philanthropist.
