College of education- 1950

Dr. P.V.G. Raju, the last Maharaja of Vizianagaram, took a pioneering step in 1950 by initiating the establishment of a College of Education, a move that marked a significant milestone in the educational landscape of Andhra Pradesh. This initiative was the first of its kind in the state, reflecting his visionary leadership and commitment to advancing the quality of teacher training. By founding this institution, Dr. P.V.G. Raju laid the basis for a modern approach to education, aimed at shaping a new generation of skilled educators who could contribute to the growth and development of the newly independent nation.

1953-Endowment for Simhachalam Choultry, etc

In 1933, to support the underprivileged sections of society in their pursuit of education, Alak Narayan Gajapathi Raju initiated free boarding at the Maharaja Institutions, funded from the royal family’s income. This generous initiative was continued and further facilitated by Dr. P. V. G. Raju, ensuring that students from economically disadvantaged backgrounds had access to the educational opportunities they deserved.

In 1954, with the intention of making this noble gesture sustainable, Dr. P. V. G. Raju, Rajasaheb, endowed approximately 375 acres of property to the Simhachalam Temple Trust. The trust was instructed to use the revenue generated from these lands to maintain and support the boarding facilities for the benefit of the students of Maharaja Institutions.

This act of generosity has had a lasting impact, as the weaker sections of society have continued to benefit from free boarding and meals. The provision of free meals, in particular, has been a cornerstone of this initiative, enabling generations of (MAHARAJA INSTITITUIONS) MANSAS students to pursue their education without the burden of financial strain. To this day, the legacy of Rajasaheb’s kindness continues to benefit countless students, empowering them to succeed academically and beyond.
