He remained a back-bencher, maybe staying in Parliament, as a friend put it, %u201cout of political addiction.%u201d He continued to participate actively when subjects that were of interest to him were being debated. He may not have been as active as he would have liked to have been. But one thing I must say and this is a lesson that all members of Parliament have to learn from him. Despite the disability - he had become slow in his movement %u2013 he came to the Parliament with a walking stick driving his Fiat car. He had a Fiat car you see - the Maharaja of Vizianagaram did not come in a chauffeur-driven Rolls Royce. He would park his car and every day he would be in Parliament by the time of the question hour %u2013 I don't know how many MPs do that now. He was very conscientious as far as his duties were concerned. Every day at the question hour he would put his earphones on and listen. He would rarely put his hand up for a supplement. He was not seeking publicity or the attention of the press gallery %u2013 but whenever something he was interested in or a subject that exercised his mind came up, he would put up his hand. Other members would draw the attention of the Speaker and say that PVG Raju would like to ask a supplementary and immediately the Speaker would call on him. And whatever he had on his mind %u2013 he'd talk for two or three minutes %u2013 always relevant to the subject and not 142
