The Mission to Lepers, now known as the Leprosy Mission Trust India, was upgraded to a full hospital in the 1960s. A school for children affected by leprosy was started in the 1980s to enable them to continue their studies while they were under treatment. In 1995, the school started offering vocational training courses. In conclusion, one might say that PVG Raju came from a long lineage of privilege and wealth amassed over centuries. This family was once known to be widely regarded for its military prowess. Then it shifted its gaze to education and culture. Over the decades of patronage, the family had transformed Vizianagaram into a famous centre of learning. This was the legacy he inherited.
