We are today living in an egalitarian age. Now privilege can be justified only in proportion to its responsiveness to the needs and aspirations of the nonprivileged. The concept of trusteeship, of complete identification with the rest of the community is the right attitude to adopt and this will lead to social progress in a peaceful and democratic manner.\Inspired by the family's legacy an engineering college named after PVG Raju - Maharaj Vijayarama Gajapathi Raj College of Engineering was established in 1997. This abuts the Alakananda Palace and was the brainchild of his sons, Dr. Anand Gajapathi Raju and Ashok Gajapathi Raju. With this the fort and all erstwhile palaces have educational institutions located within or in their precincts today.
