Alaknanda PalaceThe Alaknanda Palace was built in 1857 as a retreat for the Maharajas of Vizianagaram. It also has a runway for aircrafts which is now in disuse. When the Police Department was looking for a site to set up a training establishment in the vicinity of Vizianagaram, PVG Raju decided to gift the palace to them. The palace along with 100 acres of land is now home to the Fifth Battalion of the Andhra Pradesh Special Police. The campus now houses the main office, barracks, training grounds, schools, parks, markets and hundreds of living quarters for the families of policemen.
